Difference between LCD and LED Tv

Learn the difference between LCD and LED TVs:

Presently two kinds of displays are well known. They are as follows: LED: This stands for light emitting Diodes display. LCD: This stands for liquid crystal displays.

Today if anyone has to buy new display device for their PC or TV then they are in dilemma about the two displays and hence today’s lets discuss the differences between LED and LCD displays for clear understanding of the masses.

LED TV’s are the new kids on the horizon of display screens. LED TV’s are just similar to the earlier LCD TV’s. The highly advanced backlighting feature of the LED TV has made it ahead of the LCD TV model. The light emitting diode light up the LCD panels in the LED TV’s. Let’s just discuss the features of the following display versions:

Difference between LCD and LED Tv

Contrast/Black Levels:

The contrast ratio of the LED display is much more than the customary LCD TV’s. A major turn off in the LCD display is that in order to have dark areas on the screen the backlight is blocked by twisting of the crystals of display. This technique will reduce the contrast ratio and also the fine detail of the on screen image appeared. The local dimming impact in the LED produces black region on the screen by reducing the backlight behind the dark regions. It will result in better detail image with contrast ratio maintained.

Color Accuracy:

If we see the white LED backlights then the difference between the two displays is not important but when the RGB colored lights or color wheel has affect on the backlight of LED TV’s then LED has a benefit to display quality image in realistic color.

Viewing angles:

If the viewing angles of the display are wider more than thirty degrees far from center then the contrast ratio of the image is diminished in LCD. This disadvantage is not in the LED as they effectively can match the viewing angle of the plasma TVs.

Sizes Available:

Today the standard sizes respectively are: LCD display: 15inches to 65 inches. LED display: 17inches and 70 inches.

Video playback:

The response rate time in the LED is faster and hence the blurring of the images does not occur especially in fast action video. Hence, LED’s have overcome the motion lag problem.

Power Consumption:

More power is consumed by the local dimming LED display than LCD. Hence it will be wise and economic to rift the gap between your energy bill and good quality picture. But if LED is edge light then it will consume less power than same dimension LCD. Today leading brands like Sony, Samsung and Philips have come up with many LED displays. Today both these LED and LCD displays do not have the screen burn-in issue hence they are considered suitable for long time screen use.
