Check the packing – The first thing to check is the packaging and its style along with color .If the packing does not hold together tightly and is easy to remove or detach, then probably the battery is fake. Some of the fake packaging just provides just a double tape. Remember that original parts are always provided inside sealed containers with special sealing technology.

If the claims of battery strength are way more than the usual, then it’s a clear indication that they are not authentic. By law in many countries, battery specifications should be clearly marked with model number, voltage details and warning signs.
  4. Check the battery details online: In case of nokia, underneath the ink coating on the battery, there is a unique code present. This code could be checked online for verification.Likewise, all major phone makers also provide ways of identifying their batteries in their respective websites.
  5. Check if the battery is provided with any warranty – If the retailer is not giving any authentic warranty papers/no warranty at all/less warranty than what phonemakers provide in their websites then probably they are not original batteries.

  7. Serial number for each cell of the battery – A battery consists of number of cells. The serial number for each cell is unique and has to be provided alongwith battery.
  8. Battery materials used – The original battery is designed to be uniform with battery surface. If there are more plastic materials compared to original battery, or if materials used are less in contrast with respect to shine, texture, one needs to double check the part. Original metal contacts are not made of reflective material and this can be checked under a source of light.
